This smoothie will knock your socks off!
I've gone smoothie crazy lately. I'm diabetic and always looking for ways to pack a punch of nutrients into a few carbs. Here's one I came up with this week and my whole family loved it!
Chocolate Covered Cherry Smoothie
Place all of the following into a blender and blend until well mixed. This makes one BIG, satisfying serving:
1/2 cup chocolate soy milk (I use Soy Slender for lower carbs)
3/4 cup Calorie Countdown Milk Beverage (by Hood Dairy, or regular milk will be fine)
2 TB. Chocolate Whey Protein Powder (or 1 packet chocolate Carnation Instant Breakfast in regular or no sugar added variety)
1 heaping TB. of flax seed meal
1/4 cup tart cherries (canned in water & drained, or frozen)
1 heaping TB unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 TB. cherry syrup (I use DaVinci's sugar-free syrup, or you can use the water drained from canned cherries)
1 packet Splenda (or 2 tsp. sugar)
Sip it through a straw. I don't know why, but it tastes better. This smoothie is excellent! Enjoy!
