Heather, an EPGY question for you--

How did you find out about the financial aid? Did they call you, or did you call? I sent in the form (finally!!) at the beginning of the month, with all of hte info, but I haven't heard anything. I want him registered and ready to start in March.

Ah, nevermind! I just logged into EPGY, and I see we're receiving aid. Yay! He's now registered to start March 1st.

YAY!!!

yeah, it was right in our 'account' when I logged in. I ended up getting a letter, I believe.

Nathan is still enjoying it. Oh, after you pay for the first quarter, you can log in and pay monthly after that. It makes the budgetting so much easier for us paying by the month. Oh, and if you want him to work more than 20 minutes, email them and they can set it to longer. It automatically turns 'off' after a set amount of time. The default is 20 minutes. Not long enough for Nate, he would JUST start getting into it and get moving - and it would close. :/

He's really excited about it!

I also saw that if you finish one unit before the 3 months is up, you can register for the next at no additional cost. I'm glad about that--I don't think it will take him long to go through the K-2.

Yeah, that is a huge plus.

The math is different. I love that - it's giving him a different way to think about things. I know if we did it everyday for the 40 minutes each day, Nate would be done with the 4th grade part. But, since dh left he's only been doing 20 minutes most days (sigh) and only doing it 3 days a week. I'm buckling down, though, and he's going to start doing it 5 days a week for 30 minutes each day. He flew through the 3rd grade part... and the 4th grade part isn't hard for him, he's just not doing it as often or as long. So, I need to up the time again.

It's neat seeing him think in a different way. It's definitely not just 1+2=3.

Yes, that's also really cool to me. Erik knows *how* to do the more complex computations, but he does not want to spend much time doing them. So anything that helps him grow in his math concepts without being laborious in computation is good for us.
