First meeting w/Erik's teacher tomorrow...

I asked her a question about what is the next step for him in reading. She asked me to meet with her tomorrow after school (I had emailed her). I feel all guilty, like I'm being pushy, but I know I'm not, and I know it's a valid question. She's a great teacher, and it's a great school, but this is my first venture into "we know he's learning at a much higher level than the other kids in the class."

Don't feel guilty, that's what they are there for. It is their job. Glad to see Erik is in a great school with an involved teacher

I know exactly how you feel.... It made things too complicated and stressful for my dd (when she was little) to do "more advanced" work during school. We would just read like crazy at home. She needed to be social....but a lot of times I let that get away from me and wanted her to be doing so much more. Let us know how the meeting goes.

Forgot to add that in K they had her reading "Little Women"....not appropriate for her age level and loooooong and descriptive. I still laugh about that one!

Let us know how it goes, Heather. I can't imagine how challenging it is to find appropriate reading material!
