Help me find books please

Vidura reads at adult level now. The problem is that he needs the extra vocabulary and complexity of sentences, but I cannot find "adult children" books, ykwim?

He's ready academically but not emotionally for adult books.

He still loves some of his kids books but mostly he wants to read big chapter books. He doesn't like fantasy, adventure and stuff like that. He's pretty boring, lol.
He likes to read manuals and such, haha.

Seriously he likes books that will teach him something practical. He read the whole manual for the car, he read all my cookbooks, maybe I should stick with "how to" kind of books?

What to get for him?

He's VERY obsessive about reading. He now reads a minimum of 6 hours a day. He wakes up and picks up a book, he walks to the bathroom reading, he eats with an opened book, he has a pile of books in the car, in the shed, near his bed, everywhere. He can't stop reading. 9yes, he does do other things too )

What else is he interested in?
Airplanes, history, math, buildings, etc........

Maybe you could find some high school or college textbooks for him based on subjects that he is interested in.

He sounds like a really neat kid!!!

How about encyclopedias? He might enjoy them. The library should have them since they barely exist anymore.

I think encyclopedias are a great idea! He sounds alot like my ds. Could you go to the library with him and look in the reference section and see what is there that would interest him? My ds found a book in our library that was a history of our town. He was fascinated by it! There were lots of reference books that my ds is interested in reading.

Lucas is an avid reader too. He does enjoy the fantasy and adveture stuff so has read all the Narnia books, Lemony Snicket, Harry Potter, etc... He also loves practical stuff and enjoys science, history and all kinds of reference books. I think books like this that are geared toward older grades are appropriate. He also loves to read "Wikipedia"!

There is a book series that my whole family has enjoyed, from littles to bigs: Swallows and Amazons, by Arthur Ransome. I think he'd enjoy them - he could learn a lot about knots and sailing from them.

We do a lot of nonfiction, and a lot of solar system/universe books.
