Do you charge a restocking fee?

Hi Mamas,

I just got in inquiry for a large wholesale order. We are in the process of getting to know one another, but she is thinking of ordering 20+ blankets. She is going to pay me up front via paypal, but I am wondering..if some of the items don't move and she wants to have it sent back...i want to know what you think is fair.

She has a brick and mortar store in Santa Monica...she is not on the web at all, so she will be sending me pictures of her store and a copy of her resale certificate, biz address, phone number etc.

Can you think of anything to CMA (vs CYA).

TIA

No returns on wholesale unless it is for a flaw. If they don't move, that is really her problem not yours. That is one of the upsides of wholesale.

Thanks for the input allison. I will go ahead and amend my wholesale terms so that I can protect myself in this way.

More wholesale tips welcome please. I have a current wholesale customer, but her orders are fairly small in comparison to what this B&M store wants...

Thanks again...

I do alot of wholesale with my dyed fabrics. One thing I offer to some of my better customers, is after a year or more, if they have some colours that aren't selling I let them exchange them for colours that do sell.

It is amazing how different colours sell at different stores, and I also do some retail myself so I know I could sell the colours that they have exchanged.
At the bottom of my invoice I write: Payment or return of goods in 30 days please.
I have never had anyone return anything, or even take me up on the exchange offer.
