WAHM chatall the ins and outs of being a Work At Home Mom, how to get popcorn out of your keyboard/printer, and when not to send that invoice with the scribble.
I've just spent the last while browsing kittybids and wahmchicks.
No one seems to be getting overly much for bids, and there isn't much for auctions posted. Where do you auction, or do you? Ebay? Yahoo? Wahmchicks? kittybids? anywhere else?
I'd much rather pay my auction fees to a WAHM but want sales to happen too.
I agree...I'd rather use a WAHM site, but I want my auctions to end with bids! I've been listing at Ebay and KittyBids. So far, my auctions at Ebay are doing fine (they all end with bidders) and out of 11 listings at KittyBids, only 2 have ended with a bidder. I keep listing there, though, in hopes that it will pick up because it's a great site!
I've only listed once at WAHMchicks and it closed without any bids.

I have sold a couple things at Wahm chicks, listed at Kittybids but no bids. I've sold at Ebay, but after their insertion fees, their commission the pp fees, I make nothing on low priced items
I get a better response on ebay...I have tried with the WAHM sites and I just didn't get a good response for the same items. Though I plan to continue trying! LOL

I'm not a big fan of auctions. It seems everyone wants a deal (including me when I shop auctions...lol). I tend to feel somewhat offended when things that I put a lot of love into don't meet the reserve.
For me, auctions seem to only be worth the effort if my site is fully stocked and there's a chance people checking out my auction might also check my site.

Amen! I tend to put things that I've had on my site that haven't sold onto ebay. This way, it's "free" advertising for my site, and I sell something that has otherwise been languishing.
I truly wish a WAHM would make a success of an auction site, but so far, it hasn't happened.
Well I "used" to auction at Wahmall. But when it was sold and became kittybids, I stopped. I really have an issue with the name, the fees got higher, etc. I do some auctioning at wahmchicks with okay results. I haven't auction stuff (except fabric) at ebay, because I hate fees! I think there are pros and cons to all of these sites. I really enjoy auctioning, but it's hard when there is not a great bidder response!
Dina, I'm curious what your issue with the name is, or is it that you just don't like it? Personally, I don't GET it! I could see "KiddieBids", but I don't understand the cat connection. LOL But I do like the site. And it's free, actually. You only pay for upgraded things like BOLD or eye-catching graphics and stuff. There aren't any insertion or closing fees. You can even get image preview pics for free if you put a small button on your site that links to your own auctions at KittyBids. I did that, and image preview is the only upgraded service I use when I list there so it's totally free for me to auction there. Unfortunately, they desperately need more bidders there.

PS - if anyone wants to see what the little KittyBids button looks like, go to my Home page and scroll down on the left. It's right next to my little Ebay button. http://www.LittleBoppers.com
Well, to tell you the truth, I think it sounds like a porn site! And, everyone adult that I asked (around my home) said the same thing. I also think that when she bought it from Catherine, and no one even knew that it was being sold, Susan might have considered asking the wahms that used the auction site frequently if they had any concerns, before she bought the whole domain listings, did up the website etc. I can tell you that since that whole thing happened, I know of many wahms that will not use her site for anything. Susan basically said the lack of bids was because the things being offered weren't original enough or exciting enough to get bids. When several of us voiced our concerns about the name, she dismissed it saying that we are "gutter-minded" and that no one else would even think that. Okay, well in my opinion, if several people thought the very same thing I did, well that's enough for me, to not use her site or endorse it in any way. Before it was sold, I had over 200 positive feedbacks, I used the familyauctions (wahmall) exclusively for auctioning and did well there. Now I use wahmchicks, it's free too and easy to use.
Holy cow! What a shame! The name doesn't really sound pornographic to me, but as I said I just don't understand it. Family auction sounds much better to me, or KiddieBids like I said. I think I would like that.
I'm sorry you and other WAHMs who were using it successfully have felt the need to abandon it. That's really too bad that Susan didn't take advantage of your (collective) informed opinions on things. And really really too bad if she was insulting to you. I doubt she actually meant to sound that way.
So how are you liking WAHM Chicks? I'd love to list there again, but I really wish she would add a Buy It Now feature. I was one who asked for it in the forums. Has it been added yet?
Yup, she added a buy it now button. I know there is another auction site that had just started up, but they don't get any traffic, since it's new. But I guess if you have customers, that buy your stuff frequently and you announce where your auctions are, then your customers will buy no matter where you auction
