Going veggie means no energy for how long?

It's been eight days since I cut out meat and I am so tired. I have no energy to cook so I am going the "mac and cheese is okay" route! EEK!

I've read threads about this very issue before, but I can't find any of them. Any advice?

I'm also wondering about protein. I seem to need lots of it. If I don't have it first thing in the morning I am brain dead until I eat it, then my brain seems to work. I need at least two egs to get going in the morning. Milk won't cut it. Beans seem to be the best. Is this normal? i am still nursing Annabelle, and it has been on and off hot here.

Ugh, the TV doesn't even work so I can't just lay and not think about tired I am!

I was wondering-if you are blood type 'O'. If so, a friend of mine told me of an aruvyedic (sp?) herb for increasing energy if you are type 'O' and vegetarian. I will call her and then post again.

Also-are you taking a good prenatal/multivitamin? I really reccomend it-esp because you are still nursing. I really like

Women's Forte by NF formula's Inc. you can see it buy it here: They have the Prenatal Forte
http://www.birthandbaby.com/shop/cat...tegory17.shtml

It has digestive enzymes in it-so not only does it go down without making me sick-but the enzymes also help utilize the vitamins and minerals.

I'm A+ and I am taking a pretty good prescription prenatal.

I'm still really low energy. I just ended my menstrual cycle so I don't think it's that.

I'm really thinking I need to break out the coffee pot or something. I just can't keep up with Annabelle and can't really get excited. That makes for a frustrated kid.

AH well, was woth a try Hope it gets easier for you. I would take a look at the vitamina see what is in it-how much of each nutrient. IMO some of them are pretty weak. Maybe you could take extra B-complex. That is always good for enegy. Also-maybe essential faaty acids? Complex carbs, not refined stuff. Just remember Caffeine is a calcium depleter. So, no the greatest for women.. But, you gotta do what you gota do. You could try Green Tea. (Also Annabelle will get caffeine through your milk...)

The aruveydic herb is Coleus Foskolii. I don't know that it is necessarily for 'o' blood types. It is recommended by the guy who wrote EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE. Type 'O' is supposed to be a carnivore-and I am type 'O' and a vegetarian. He recommended this herb in that case. (Type 'A' is supposed to basically be a vegetarian) THe herb is supposed to help with energy and metabolism. If you do a search on the web it is in many health food stor weight loss supplements. It is not a stimulant like ephedra or caffeine. I don't know if you can use it while nursing for that you would have to consult a natural health care practitioner.

So there you go! So feel well, soon.

cutting out meat..........

I never heard of dropping energy when cutting out meat? I always thought I had more energy when I cut it out. When I do find my energy drops, I usually pop a B12 or Iron and that does the drink. Carrot juice is another favorite energy booster of mine.

~ I am discovering the other forums now......... ~

Are you strictly Vegan now?? Can you post a sample of what you eat in a day?? It may help us figure out what you aren't getting.

We're not Vegan just yet. I was once upon a time but then I fell of the wagon. We have been eating salmon once a week because it is *cheap* right now.

Here's the plan for the next week -

WEEK TWO
*Monday -
Poached Eggs with Vit C juice
Pizza
Stuffed Shells and Cinnamon Glazed Carrots

*Tuesday
Pancakes
Salmon, steamed broccoli, bulgar and sliced mango
Spaghetti with tomato sauce, garlic bread, and peas

*Wednesday
Quiche
Black Bean Enchiladas
Garbanzo beans, Broccoli, and Brown rice

*Thursday
Granola and Yoghurt
Vegetarian Pot Pie
Lentils, Rice and Carmalized onions with Humus and Pita

*Friday
Raw foods
Couscous & kidney beans
Mush

*Saturday -
Scones
Pink beans and rice with tortilla, salsa, sour cream and avocado
Mashed potatoes, Mushrooms, Lima Beans and Okra

*Sunday -
Couscous with Coconut and Bananas (from an British cookbook I was given)
Blackeye pea and collard green soup with cornbread
Veggie Burger, and steamed broccoli

I'm not totally vegetarian - yet. I certainly seem to be heading in that direction, though. And I, too, am experiencing a drain in energy. And Elizabeth, I'm A+ as well.

I was wondering if I just simply am not getting enough protein - not necessarily meat - just protein in general. How much protein do we need in a day? I don't want to hijack your thread, so I'll post separately. I just wanted to share that I am experiencing what you are, but to a lesser extent.
