Lightbulb Veggie recipe swap **SHIPPING DEADLINE 6/08**

Would anyone be interested in a recipe swap?

I know how much I would like to have some different tried and true recipes to add to my collection (and how I never get the recipes I really like transfered out of the cookbooks and onto a card - have to go searching every time I want to find them).

I was thinking, if there is any interest, that we could do a swap of some of our favorite recipes. We could do like five recipes from different categories (maybe soup, entree, side dish, dessert, salad or bread or something like that), write them up on recipe or index cards and send them to each person participating. It shouldn't cost more than a stamp per person to send.

I think this could be kind of fun.

If you're interested or have other ideas post here and I can work out the details.

****************************

UPDATE:

Here's where we're at...I believe there are 6 of us in this. I am going to pm everyone for their addresses. I will put together a list then and pm that to everyone participating.

Each participant needs to write up one recipe (5 times) from each of the following categories: entree, side dish, soup, dessert, and one other of your choice like salad, bread, whatever. Please write them on a 3 1/2" x 5" card (recipe or index card) so they will fit in a recipe box.

Send the five recipes to each participant by June 8th. Please post here when you send them.

Any questions or something I forgot, pm me or post here.

I've noticed that and that is kind of what I was thinking. I guess I would like to get at least half a dozen people or so (that would be 25 recipes that we would each receive). I just think it would be fun to get other people's favorites.

It seems like it's easy to get in a rut with cooking and make the same things over and over and over....

An awesome Yahoo group you can join to get lots of recipes is Christian Vegan Cooking. There is at least one athesist there and although there is an occasional prayer request, posts are supposed to be about cooking only and the other stuff is to be discussed on their chat group.

I'm sure there's lots of places out there to get recipes. I just thought this would be kind of fun and they'd already be written up for you and everything. kwim?

All that being said...I have like 3 shelves full of cookbooks, but I still find myself making stuff I've made so many times I don't need a recipe anymore or just turning to the recipes I know are good and use over and over....

So I think I'll close this on May 31. I will contact everyone on June 1st to get addresses and then forward the addresses to the others participating and we can start writing up our recipes. Then we should have the recipes sent by June 8th. I think there are 4 people so far. Hopefully we can get a couple more, but evven at 4 we'll get 15 recipes each. How's that sound?

I would like to do this.....however, we will be gone from June 4th through June 13th taking a child to a specialist/hospital.

Can I still participate?

I am in a rut also. We don't eat red meat and are mostly vegetarian but we do eat fish probably about three times a month and the rare poultry. (once a month)

But, I'll make sure to mail only total vegetarian recipes. I don't have vegan recipes to share, however.

Just let me know if this is not a "fit" for me and I won't have any hard feelings, promise!!!! (since I don't have any vegan ones)

Michelle,

They do not have to be vegan, just vegetarian. Most vegetarian recipes are easy to adapt if need be. We'd love to have you join. You can either mail the recipes before you go, or you can just mail them when you get back. No problem!

Hope everything is okay with your dc.

Thumbs up

Ok then, I'm in!!

Just LMK when it closes as to exactly how we will be doing this.

I will try to get mine mailed before we leave for the hospital, but if it is too crazy mine may not go out until after we get back. (but they will go out!)

You're not too late. It closes today and I will contact everyone later for addresses.

I saw in you siggy that you have a Tristan and an Aislinn - that is soooo weird because my brother's oldest is Tristan (10/97) and middle child is Aislinn (10/99), their youngest is Shaw (if you have a third and name him that I am going to think we're living in parallel universes or something ).
