Hey...This TV show is controversial. Who would have guessed? LOL

Check out my article and let me know what you think of the program:

I suppose he could come off as "whiney", but I *do* like the way the narrator explains *why* he is reacting the way that he does. His "parents" do treat him with a degree of firmness but temper it with respect. I have heard a *lot* of moms complain that he is very annoying. My first dd (99) liked his show, and now my second dd (04) enjoys it as well.

we like Calliou. If nothing else, I think he is the most realistic kid on TV. Yes, he whines, but so does my 3 yo! They use lots of feeling words, just like we do at our house, and they seem to be a "gentle discipline" type of family.

I have no problem with Caillou - both kids watch it and have learned something from it. I agree with Annette - not so much whiney, he's just a kid who's 4

it was a short time back that i couldn't even be in the room when it was on because the pitch of the voice hurt my head/ears (i have sensory issues). yeah it's whiney, but like others have said - what person isn't at times? between caillou, franklin and little bear - i have actually learned a few things about parenting. i have found other mamas that also sometimes say to themselves "what would little bears mama do?" funny eh?

now max and ruby? i really can't stand ruby but i love it, at the end of every show, when max is shown to have known what he was talking about the entire time and ruby just wasn't paying attention because she was so involved in what she wanted and she thought. max is my hero

I love Max and Ruby!!!

So much so, that I bought quite a few used dvd(s) off of amazon.com not too long ago. Reminds me a whole lot of ds (6) and dd (9), 3+ years ago. Too funny.

branwyn: surely you've checked out the Max and Ruby games at nickjr.com (assuming they're still up there... it has been awhile), but very cute animated games. A must see.

Calliou on the other hand - I limited how often that show was running on the tube back in the day. Like branwyn stated, just hearing it across the house made me cringe. BUT do agree with the narration and "point" bringing the two together as a lesson in the end.
