OMG - Can I just say I had the best time last week. Thursday was Gang of Four, which was great. A total 80's post-punk flashback. (in a good way,

)
Then came Saturday....
The Line Up:
opening bands:
Honky
http://www.honky.net/
Napalm Beach

and headliners
Mudhoney

is all I can say.
First off, I went with my bestest, dearest friend in the whole wide world, which would have been great all by itself. But to make it even better - we were in on all access pass to the show. And we had open tabs (covered by the house manager who is our good friend) at the bar and at the cafe!

So with our whistles nice and wet and our tummies full of yummy greek food..... We partied big time. Back stage has not changed all that much since the hey-day of my rock-n-roll life.
For the show....Honky was the surprise delight of the night. The bass player is JD Pinkus from the Butthole Surfers, though the band sounds NOTHING like them. They kicked arse!! They are going to be in London on August 5 and Bob (our friend who runs the club) is buddies with Pinkus so I am on the list for that show now too!

I told dh - not too bad - we will have been in England for less than a month and I will be on a show list. hee hee.
Napalm Beach was nice...for about 5 minutes. Once the novelty that these guys are still alive wore off (they are old time junkies), it was almost painful to listen and watch. Sad to say, but true. They brought out some people to see them that it was cool to touch base with, but it also made most of us really glad that we have moved on. From what I hear, these guys hit rock bottom a few times and are not totally back...if you kwim.
Mudhoney, of course was fantastic. And ooooohhh so nice to look at as a bonus. Shoot - I have had a crush on Mark Arm since back in the days of Green River in the late 80's. He is still looking good and sounding good too. The crowd went nuts for them - many of whom looked to be just barely old enough to drink. I was thankful to be watching the show from my nicely protected stage side viewing perch. Being a connected old fart has its advantages.
Afterward - we hung out while the club closed down and then stayed for the after party. The details of which cannot be posted on a family friendly site.
....lets just say it was a good thing that I was allowed to sleep in on Mother's Day!
And a big giant HUG and lots of LOVE for my dh, who is the sweeeeeeetest most loving man. Knowing how Tina and I need to be getting in some good girl-friend time before we leave (

leaving Tina is the hardest part of it all) he agreed to drive us so we could party safely. Without even complaining one speck, he dropped us off and picked us up afterwards....at 4:00 AM!!!!!!!! I love my man!
