how to keep 14 month old occupied on 3.5 hour flight

We leave in 10 days for San Diego. I REALLY need some ideas on how to keep Alex busy on our 3.5 hour flight. Our flight leaves at 3:30 so we already passed naptime. I will bring tons of snacks for him cause he is intolerant to wheat and citrus. The flight home won't be a problem cause it is during a sleeping time. Alex is VERY active so I'm kind of nervous about him sitting still. I'm constantly chasing him or getting him off of things so hopefully he'll behave himself. I'm currently buying new little things to keep him occupied, but I'm worried he'll throw them and I'll be chasing things down the aisle. Help!!

The minute you check in ask for the bulkhead seat. That way he can have a small space to play on the floor. If the bulkheads are taken then ask for assistance in a seat that might possibly have an open seat next to it, so you can have some wiggle room.

Give him a cup and some cheerios, he can toss the cheerios into the cup, plus eat them. Easy clean up too. Maybe buy some of those markers that only work on the special paper by Crayola.

Finger puppets, a empty camera for him to play with.

The worse part of traveling with little ones (IMO) isn't the flight - it's the navigating through the airports with all your stuff. Keep your load as light as possible. Check your purse in with your luggage and keep only what you need in a backpack. They have apple juice on almost all flights. Good luck.

from my past flying exp. they wouldn't allow me + kids in the bulkhead... by choosing the bulkhead you are supposed to be ready to help others out if there is an emergency & i guess they think the kids would get in the way

goodluck teague would be running in the aisle and cheerios, uh-uh ~ he'd be throwing them LOL.

This is exactly how Alex is!! That's why I'm getting really nervous about it. He's really been getting into things lately. I'm constantly getting him out of the catfood, he throws things on the floor and laughs when he does it, climbing onto the table all while laughing away. I'm getting tired! This is going to be so much fun!

bulkhead seating is not the same as being in an emergency aisle. I have flown 4 times with Elizabeth, all when she was under the age of 2. I flew to Italy with her which was an 18 hour trip in all. Bulkhead seating saved the trip. She loved to kick and when she was on my lap her feet reached the seat in front of me. Having bulkhead seating prevented that. Is Alex getting his own seat? If yes, then I'd demand to bring my carseat onboard. They will feed you bull about it not being regulated for air travel but if you look at the label on the side it should say "regulated for air travel" LOL...unless its older than 4 years or so. We bring lots of snacks, lots of books, and toys that make no noise (to save us from nasty comments around us) Magna doodles are great because you cant loose the pen like you do crayons etc.
