Can a family of 5 stay in Disney's All Star Resorts?

Their site says there is a maximum occupancy of 4 people. Can you just get a roll-away cot for the 5th person?
Just wondering. I'm just trying to add up all the costs involved in a trip to Disney, to see if it's something we could save up to do in the future.

While I'm sure you could, I'm not sure I'd want to. We stayed at All Stars Music when we went a couple years ago and the rooms really aren't that big. I wouldn't want to cramp that many people in there personally. Have you tried some of the off site hotels? There's a few off site hotels that have kid suites for reasonable prices. Might be a better choice for a large family.

When you say family do you mean mom, dad and teens or mom and dad and people under 10? How tall your family is makes the difference. 2 adults and 3 teens would loose their minds. 2 adults and 3 toddlers would be just like normal as they are all close anyhow

If the only reason you have the room is for sleeping, sure!

If you plan to spend time in the room youmight want a second room. Check out wilderness homes. Its like a house/trailer most have a master bedroom, pull out sofa and oneo f those cool beds that pulls out of the wall.

I would say probably. It depends on the size/ages of the family. If I were to stay there again, my family would fit fine. 2 Adults a 6 & 4yo and the baby in the pack n play. It still is cramped with the luggage and all, but if you're using it only to sleep I wouldnt have a problem.

If you want a little bit larger room the moderates are ok, but still only 2 beds.

The cabins at the fort wilderness are very very expensive, so I dont suggest that at all. If you're trying to do this on a budget I would stay away from there.

Offsite there are many sheraton suites that are around the same price as the value resorts, we had a room with 2 queen beds, then in the suite part it had a pull out couch that was a double bed. We got it on hotwire for $60 a night. It was near the airport, but worth the extra 15min drive.

for fire issues they will not let more than 4 people in the smaller resort rooms, I'm almost positive this is what I've heard.

It would be for 2 adults (dh and I), and 3 kids between the ages of 6 and 10. We mostly will use the rooms for just sleeping, since we live very far from Disney and will want to get in as much of the resorts as possible. We're looking for the cheapest option on the Disney property. Dh and I stayed at the All Star resort 9 years ago on our honeymoon, and loved the decor. We thought the kids would enjoy the atmosphere of the All Star resorts rather than the other resorts that tend to look less fun. I just didn't know if they would require we purchase 2 rooms at that resort, or if they'd let us get 1 room plus a cot (which would be good for our budget).

Fire reasons is one they will tell you. Talk to them and they can help you find the best deal.

WE were originally not able to let my son co-sleep with us (14 months) due to fire restrictions but we got our way because we spoke to managment.

call them and see what kind of deals are running.

Ummmm...well we just stayed at All star music with 6 of us, and ended up all sleeping in one room. :lol They won't let you have that many, but with as many rooms as there are, they'd never notice if you did.

However, I don't know that a rollaway bed would even fit, the rooms aren't very big.

We all fit because the baby slept in the pack and play, and my kids are all still tiny so they slept the wrong way across the bed. I was mad that we spent the money for 2 adjoining rooms.

A good board to post about disney is www.disboards.com its an awesome site! We went in January and stayed at the All star movies. It was pretty small. It was dh, my two kids, and I. Have you thought about the moderates? They cost about $50 more and the room is a little bigger. At Port Orleans Riverside you could request a trundle bed.

I agree. We just got back from a week at WDW and the disboards were super helpful in finding out about the different hotels, meal vouchers, what to pack, etc. They have a family forum there and people are always asking about lodging for larger families. One thing I've seen mentioned is buying points from Disney Vacation Club members, and using them for getting suites at half the prices (or something to this effect, I didn't pay alot of attention as there are only 4 of us). Definitely check out the site.
