Maine: Old Orchard Beach or Kittery (outlet stores!)

NH: Mt. Washington

MA: Boston...Boston Harbor, New England Aquarium, Red Sox baseball game, Children's Museum, Museum of History, Planetarium....

(Stacy, who was born and raised in NH and has visited every one of these places!)

I would try totay at bed -n- breakfast places!
Eat lobster, steamers, coffee milk, del's lemonade, dough boys....

Roger Williams Zoo
Newport beaches, mansions(some have tours with the guides dressed in period attire), newport also has lots of festivals
Providence RiverFire.....On some Fridays and Saturdays the river is lit with bins of wood all night long, music is played, its very cool and free!
Umbrella Factory is a cool eclectic store in south kingston, not sure, but near the beaches
Block Island

CT
Mystic, mystic aquarium(alot is outside so it's great on a nice day, our favorite are the belugala whales) and the mystic shops

MA
Southwick zoo,
NE Aquarium(all indoors)
Bostom Common(another book that is true is boston'make way for ducklings')

I would check for outdoor festivals, concerts too
