chicago airport ( question for flyers that have gone thru here )

alright so i need to order caden and my ticket SOON ... i have the funds that my parents sent me for it ... but i was curious about one thing ... i can get a round trip non stop ticket for 248.00 or a rt 1 stop ( in chicago for example ) for 173.00 .... i dont want to get stuck somewhere long with not knowing fully how caden will be .. and like the thought of getting back quick and being done with it as i myself get all tensed up and stressed while on a flight ( brain goes crazy and my ears pick up every little sound .. ya know thinking the worst all the time )

i like the thought of saving a lil money and being able to use the extra for something we need too ... but is the 70.00 saved worth it?? i dont know how chicago is set up if they have you running one end to the other in short amounts of time ...

i figured id see what you flyers say and make my decision by tomorrow night

my aunt/uncle are coming down here the 31st and leaving the 4th and ill be riding up with them so ill only be using 1half of the round trip .. its SO much cheaper to buy round trip then 1 way ... 1way was almost 600.00!!! i dont understand that but ill be smart and just get round trip price lol

so ill be flying back outta minnesota on april 19th .. now to decide how ahh

thanks for any input!

I don't have flying experience, but I am in Chicago. There are 2 airports here - Ohare and Midway. Which airport are you talking about ?

We almost missed our flight at O'Hare years ago because the layover was hardly long enough to make it from one end of the airport to the other. This is when I was 18, in shape, without a child to haul with me! We got off our plane and literally ran through the airport to the next flight. If that's the airport, you'll want to make sure you have a long enough layover.

Were it me......I'd save the $70.00 and opt for the 1 stop option. If you're a slingin' mama, that makes it a zillion times easier. During my son's first year, we flew cross country about 5 times. Now, I've flown alone with my two (now 4 and 2) several times cross country. Little one in the sling...big brother holding onto the sling tail. AND we do elimination communication LOL

They allow you to board before everyone else (pre-boarding). Where are you flying from/to? Our flight from Seattle to Baltimore is about 8 hours flying time...it takes all day and IS a tiring day, but totally do-able.

You can do it, mama!

You might want to think about going on priceline and naming your own price. I think you can choose non-stop? Anyway and put in the $70 cheaper fare and see if it takes it. You'd get the best of both worlds. I've used priceline twice and both worked out just fine.

Lisa - We just flew to CA in Dec. with our 3-month old DS and asked to pre-board each time and were refused each time. They said pre-boarding is only for the "disabled". I wish we could have pre-boarded! It would have been sooo much easier! We flew out of O'Hare.

If it's O'Hare ~ get non-stop. O'Hare sucks LOL Even Midway w/all the changes is a PITB (maybe just for me b/c I was so used to how small it was ~ I don't deal w/change well ) Regardless of where I was flying to & from, I ALWAYS opted for the non-stop flights when flying w/children. So much better to get to your destination as quick as humanly possible.
