DH, DS, and I might be moving across the country sometime this summer/fall. What are we to do with the baby and the moving van? We'd like to tow our car behind the van. Our son will not even be a year old (his BD is in Sept.). Can you place a rear-facing car seat in a moving van?

I would assume so, as long as there is a secure seat belt in the middle of the seat. Have you conisdered packing up the moving van and having your DH and a friend drive while you and baby fly?

When we moved from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Oviedo, Florida, I was 12 weeks pregnant with a 16 mo. My baby and I flew to Florida, while dh and his mom (who flew out just for this) drove the moving van and car towed on platform behind it, here.

Actually, a baby that young shouldn't be too difficult, as long and he enjoys the car. But he would be between you and dh, so he would acytually get to see and interact with you on the trip. That will be a bonus.

We moved from PA to WA (7 days in the car) with 3 little kids. Austin was 4, Nate was almost 3, and Adam was 5 mos. The older two had a more difficult time because they were so bored. They weren't abel to read or do activities on their own yet, so it was just a LOT of sitting being strapped in. It was a long car ride with them... but the baby was ok.

Then we did a 4 day move from WA to NE when Austin was 5, Nate was 4, Adam was 1 and Lauren was 5 mos. Adam was still pretty easy on that one, and he was almost 2 years old.

When we moved from CT to FL last summer, DH drove the moving van down with a friend, and I had my brother fly with me and the two kids a few days later (they were 3 1/2 and 16 months at the time). One good thing was that a bunch of stuff was already unpacked by the time we got the kids there.
