Traveling MamasWondering how to entertain your 2-yr-old on a long trip? Got questions about airfares or car routes? Want to know where the best tourist or camping spots are? Moving across the country? C'mon in!
I wrote a HUGE letter to southwest airlines after our flightS from the bowels of the earth in January.
Today I got a call from a manager there. We talked for a half hour. I had written my ideas for solutions to some of the issues and she wanted to talk some of them thru with me. Thanked us for our feedback.
and said they generally dont' offer any compensation. I knew that. I told her I didnt' expect anything. She said 'well then you'll be pleasantly surprised because since I've never seen anyone go thru what you did I got you some vouchers".
She said they want a chance to prove to us that our experience was NOT the normal Southwest experience and the only way to do that is to get us to fly with them again. So they're giving us $200 flight vouchers PER PERSON.
Thats $1000 in vouchers (what we paid for the trip to NY).
wow.
Where will we go?
Save them and visit my sister in NY again next year?
Maybe dh and I should go somewhere for our anniversary?
Fly to Disneyland in October instead of the six hour drive?
oh the excitement! oh the possibilities! oh i'm so glad I wrote that letter!
lol

You can always come up here and visit me! LOL! But I'd go to Disney World (if it's in the area) -- it'll be so much fun! Go to Florida... cuz you can always go to Disney Land later, yk?
WAY TO GO!

I like the idea of flying to disneyworld florida and having my sis and her family drive down from NY and meet us there. That way we could combine everything.
But another trip cross country with southwest just might kill me if this IS their normal way of doing things.
on another hand, a friend suggested i ebay the vouchers (they're fully transferrable) and use the money to have a better disneyland trip. lol
we have some time to discuss - no travelling for us for a while after the last nightmare. I still dont' even know if i WANT to give southwest another chance after the last experience cross country! i'm thinking a SHORT trip with them - it'd be harder for them to mess it up kwim?
Well as a frequent Southwest Flyer, I have to tell you that we love them. We have flown cross country with them before and not had a problem. We have also flown with American, Continental, and Delta. By far I prefer Southwest. We flew international with Continental and it was a disaster. American has always been good but they are usually too pricey for us. If I never have to get on another Delta flight in my life it would be ok. LOL
So I say plan a trip somewhere and enjoy. I think your next experience with Southwest will be different.
