Need bereavement flight help/hints ..

My SIL just called and her SO father just passed away.
They need to find him a flight home ASAP ... leaving Tulsa, arriving in LAX.

They just moved from Ca to Mo ... arrived in Mo Sat. So most their money went to the move, need to find something cheap.

Any tips?

My parents used this discount when my grandpa died. Just called airline directly with the funeral home info. & got a reduced rate. It was still $$ though.

I'd shop around on the net, then call directly to see if you can get something cheaper than published.

They decided to all go (2 adults 1 child) so they are driving.

I did find a flight plus rental car deal 13th-17th leaving at 6am both days for $978...that was the best price, most place wanted $500 per person just for a flight.

But they don't have a credit card and the offer said you had to have a major CC not a debit card.

Using the gas/hote/foodl prices from last week... its cheaper to drive.... and they don't have a problem with not having enough time.

For future reference, using priceline.com can be good for any last minute travel. I saved literally thousands this way when traveling for a funeral. All 3 of us were able to go for less than half the price of one full price last minute faire. (bereavement is usually only a small % off)
