Niagara Falls vacation?

Has anyone done this? Has anyone gone during Christmas?

Can anyone tell me details about it? We're considering doing this for a vacation (dh wants at Christmas but I worry it's too cold)

can anyone tell me about it, and especially about the US/Canada differences, etc.

keep in mind dh has his green card but isn't american... so I'm specifically interested in those who've done it since 9/11...

thanks!!

im about 90min drive from there and have been many times. Christmas is one of the nicest times to go. But it is very cold. Im not sure where you're from, but we've had sub zero temps and below 0 windchills the past few winters.

Would you be going just with dh or with kids and what ages?

There are many nice but pricey hotels right next to the falls, lots of the prices went up since Casino Niagara was built, I would definetly stay on the Canadian side vs the US side. The US side has nothing compared to the Canadian side. They do have a casino but its small and nothing like Casino Niagra. Most people go up there in the winter just to gamble.

Most of thier attractions on the main strip are things like Haunted houses, mini golf, restaurants like Rain Forest Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe etc., they have a lot of souvineer shops and Ripleys Believe it or not museum with lots of wax museums around. And you have to walk outdoors from each place to the next.

I personally wouldnt be able to find enough things to do there for a whole week with the kids, let alone dh. Unless we headed farther north to Toronto. Then there is lots to do.

The falls itself is very pretty at night, and most nights around christmas time they have a laser show on the falls and a light show with disney characters and santa, rudolph etc. Its all outdoors as well, my kids went last year and after 20 min it was too cold to stay. We just went back to the hotel and swam.

What are your interests? What do you want to do/see on your vacation?

It is very pricey, but it all depends on what you want to do.

lmk if you have any questions.. i'd be glad to help.
