Hugs and kisses?

How often do you hug/kiss your teen/preteen? Ds is 12 and I always have to ask he almost never kisses me goodnight on his own. Is this a boy thing? Or a teen thing?

Well, my 12 yo dd almost drowns me in hugs and kisses, so maybe it's just a boy thing. My ds is only 9, and still also drowns me in hugs and kisses. We'll see how it goes when he reaches 12, lol!

DD rarely kisses me, and I rarely kiss or hug her.

Sad, I know.

My 12 yr old ds kisses me good-bye & goodnight, but then he also holds my hand while out in public (meaning he grabs my hand to hold). My 16 yr old dd still hugs & kisses frequently. My 9 yr old dd is far less demonstrative than either of them. (my 4 yr old is still kissy LOL). I think it is more the individual child.

hmmm. I think it's a boy thing. My almost 11 yr old does not want hugs or kisses and will push me away. Although he will come to me with an occasional kiss good night. I guess the key is that he must initiate. My 8 yr old also does not want kisses, but will accept hugs. My 4 yr old will take both. I'm thinking out loud here, and only my oldest kisses me. hrmmmph. i wonder why.

My 19yo is now "accepting" hugs and kisses. Actually sometimes he would hug me himself

However there was this period somewhere between 11 and 14 were it was way more scarce

I guess Chelsey is just loveydovey cuz we're both always hugging on and kissing each other. Last night she kept licking my hand and cracking up - don't know what was up with that but it was odd. lol. She is odd.

She is always telling us she loves us and climbs up into my lap on occasion

My kids are almost 11 ds and 13 dd. Both kiss dh and I both good morning and good night, or goodbye. Every now and then dd will just give out hugs, not like she used to though. Ds will hold our hand out in public now and then as well.

My sister in law once made a comment to me about how the kids always hug & kiss us goodbye, and she wanted to know what I did that makes them still do so without being told or asked. I just said this is what we've always done, and just because they got older didn't stop. She was quite upset because he kids never give her hugs or kisses anymore.
