Can a mod or someone please tell me why I can't vote in polls anymore???

It's driving me crazy. It never lets me vote anymore and I used to always be able to.

Its *not* just you, Krystal. Are you on aol?

I know Margaret (Rocket Scientist) and Amity have been working on fixing it. I'm sorry... but there are other mamas that can't vote either.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one...I thought maybe they made it where I couldn't, LOL. I am using AOL but if that's what's causing it, that's weird cause last month I was able to vote fine. I didn't upgrade to 8.0 or anything but maybe that could be causing some problems for all AOL members?! Strange..

Anyway, thanks for letting me know mama!!

Krystal, do you remember if the site had moved at about the same time as you stopped being able to vote in polls? I have a suspicion that there was a bug fix made to the forum software before it moved. But that when the move occurred, the older forum software was used, without the bug fix.

I was able to vote just last month..I don't think it's moved again since then has it? The first time that I wasn't able to vote was around mid-Oct. if that helps.

I read about this at VBulletin

It had nothing to do with the server move - the exact same files were copied form one server to another, not re-installed.

The Vbulletin forums alude to an issue with some ISP's who use dynamic IP addresses. Something in the polls feature is incompatible with the way some ISP's change your connection IP during a session. Users who are assigned a single IP address during the whole time they are connected don't seem to have this issue.

AOL does change your connection, and often. I've no doubt that some other ISP's do as well. If you'd like to test it out, every 10 minutes or so, go to this page and reload. Record the IP addresses you get.

Thanks mama for helping me to understand. I was getting kinda frustrated. At least now I know why anyway.
