Question I need to know how to animate Gif's or Jpg's

I can put up sites and I know HTML (amature) but I haven't been able to get down on how to animate a picture.

I want to animate a banner or logo for my business and just don't know where to start. Can anyone help?

I have Paint Shop Pro 5.0 (can't afford 7.0 yet) I also use ArcSoft Photo Studio, along with other programs. What can I do?

ANy Help would be great!~

Re: I need to know how to animate Gif's or Jpg's

You cannot animate .jpg images. How is .gif animated? You have to start with software capable of doing that. I don't know if the software that you have can do animated gif's - maybe somebody else can chime in who uses at least one of your listed softwares. You can also take a look at

http://animation.about.com/cs/gifanimators/

- they list some gif animation software, including some free software, I think.

Basic idea behind gif animations is creating multiple layers with different images on them, and setting the speed with which images "switch" from one to the other.
