Number five was my fav. A few things you could do is if you don't understand exposure, try to avoid putting the kids in white until you do. It's one thing I have to do because I just don't get it. I've tried :P

Truly.

I remember VERY well how frustrating it is trying to learn. There were many days I was darn near tears and vowed to never take another picture again. But, suddenly - it clicked. Now, that's not to say that ever picture comes out how I see it in my head, by any stretch. But, I'm feeling more confident about settings and how to get it to look right
