I'm trying to find a place in my house for shooting. We get a LOT of natural light - here's my issue.

My camera tells me the shot will be underexposed, so I dropped my shutter speed to 1/40 (til it showed in the middle) but my DS's face is still blown out?? How is that possible? LOL

This is SOOC - I just sized it.

It's too cold to practice on my friends' kids outdoors so I was hoping to be able to do some indoor shots here. Do I need to wait later in the day for more light? TIA

I have a shoot tomorrow - we planned on the park but the high is 50 and her baby is 6 months - plus she wants Christmas photos.

I'm about to give my garage another shot and see how it goes.

have you tried sitting with your back to the window and then having your subject facing the window...

what julie said. do not go profile to the window...face the subject at the window and then put your back at the window.

I figured that out just last week.

If you need to, you can come here. I've got the tree in front of my living room window. You could hang something in the doorway between the dining and living rooms for a backdrop. It gets good light in there.

Hope the shoot goes well! Oh, and it is supposed to be warm again next week, like Tuesday/wednesday, so maybe you could wait until then?

Thanks Hayes! Her son caught the crud so we rescheduled - for Tuesday, glad it'll be warm.

I did more shots in the garage yesterday and they came out great.
