so pleased with walgreens tonight...re: free 8x10

i saw the coupon code on the market today for the free 8x10 at walgreens, so i took advantage of it.

i have a book of 8x10s from various labs, showing the quality (or lack thereof) so as to make a point for why i don't sell the disk for cheap.

i sent the file via the internet and showed up at the appointed time to get it. it wasn't ready so he apologized and said he'd find me in the store when it was ready.

a few moments later he came up to me looking perplexed. he asked if i had permission from the photographer. i very quietly looked at him and smiled...and then told him i WAS the photographer. pulled out my business card and drivers license...i had to fill out a form and leave my card stapled to the form...but he wasn't going to give me the print without proof!

i am impressed. it was clearly a professionally taken photo of a family that i had watermarked very largely across the center. he said just before me they had a customer send in 30 files from the internet, and halfway through the bunch were 3 pro photos...they tried to slip them in and were upset when the store wouldn't let them have the prints.

that said...the quality was awful but that's to be expected. and that was the point i was trying to make i'll add it to my book.

that's a hoot!

I ordered a snapshot of the girls from Halloween for Dh to stick on his bulletin board at work - a 4X6 print isn't big enough for five kids

you're welcome! i had dh bind it for me at work...i just need to get this one added to it. need to remember to send it in with him...

it's a case where a picture really means more than words...they *get* the quality difference when they see it...much more clearly than if i just said it.

I think it is such a great idea. I have a hard time convincing my family that I don't want my photos (that I take...whatever they take, I don't care) printed at Walmart or something. But most people don't want to pay the extra money for a good printer.

I am glad you had an otherwise good experience with Walgreens.
