Nikon D50 or D70s?

We have dediced to either get a D50 or a D70s. We could get the D50 now or the D70s in 3 + months (but that is depending on some things). What are some of the advantages or disadvantages to either camera? I have read the D70 reccomended a few places and never the D50. Why is that? What are the noticable differences?

FWIW I am currently using a coolpix5400 and our 35mm is an N70.

Thanks

well, i just was looking at the d50 and d100 today. i looked at the d70 but didn't pay much attention to it bc i feel the d50 will do what i need. the d70 was a bit too heavy for me too. the d50 sat really well in my hand.

i'm getting the d50 with two lenses (a 18-55 and a 55-200, both nikon dx) soon.

i learned on an old manual pentax about 17 years ago and am currently using a canon eos rebel 2000 SLR (i've got 2 lenses for that too) for my film camera and a nikon coolpix 5600 for my digital. i'm unhappy with the coolpix bc of it's recovery time btw shots...slow shutter speed and slow writing to the card. i'll be getting a high-speed memory card with the d50 as well (which hastens write time btw camera and card, noticable mostly at higher shutter speeds.)

have fun!

i have the d50 and i love it. unless you're really a photo guru i think you'd be more than happy with the d50.

yep. got mine today LOVE it.

as for the delay, it has none bc it has a memory buffer to allow you to keep shooting while the camera multi-tasks and writes to the card. i guess if you went shot happy you could fill the buffer bf it made space but i think that would be hard to do.

LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
