What photo editing software do you like?

I saw the thread on Photoshop and it sounds like a good one once you get to know it. Anyone ever tried that cd they advertise on TV from the Video Professor? I was thinking it might be worth the $7 to get the Photoshop one. Any other programs you like? While I am not at all new to photography I am brand new to photo editing. The only thing I have used is Shutterfly--so nothing advanced at all.

I have a couple Photoshop books written by Scott Kelby and they are awesome! He teaches you step by step how to do any particular editing problem you want to try and you can even download his pics to compare you results. By the time I'd followed several of the examples in the book, I'd learned a LOT about Photoshop. I'd been using v.5 but didn't understand or know it very well. Then I got CS2 and Kelby's books and now can outdo my dh, who's considered an expert.

Photoshop here. I was a photographer for 6 years in the military, so I got lots and lots of FREE training on it. It's an amazing program...even now, I feel like I only use about 10% of it's full capacity.

Sounds like Photoshop would be a good idea for me. I will check out those books too. I know I have some version of Photoshop floating around here somewhere that I never tried out. Now, to find the time!

Yes, Photoshop really is phenomenal and the gold standard. I'm so in love with it! Funny thing is I used to use Paint Shop Pro because I felt like Photoshop wasn't very intuitive...but once things "clicked" I could never switch to another program!
