Digital camera recommendation?

I'm finally getting a new digital camera! But what do I get? I want to get it this morning because I'm taking the kids away for a few days. I'd like to get something with an awesome zoom, and under $400. Is that a realistic price? To me it seems high, but I know it's worth it and besides, I'll save a lot of $$ on film and developing.

So what should I get? What should I avoid?

For that price range, you may want to look at the Fuji finepix. My parents have one, and it is a great little camera.
