Digital Cameras?

I'm considering purchasing a digital camera and was looking for some direction

This will just be for my personal use (pics of the girls) and photos for selling (eBay, etc). I'd prefer at least 3 megapixels, something easy to use, and a good deal.

Any brands or models you've really loved or hated? Know of any sites offering great deals? I'd love any advice you can offer. Thank you

camera

Okay girly...first take it from me...NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a digital off ebay, I did it 2x and got soo screwed both times!
I bought a casio Exilm EX-s2 over the weekend and it was pretty easy to operate. I wouldn't even have gotten it, but it was a floor model and was offered at 1/2 price.
I did not like the fact that there was only 2.0 mega pixels, or the fact that my dh's wallet was bigger than it. When I was promised that I could return it within 30 days if I wasn't satified, I agreed.
The 2" LCD monitor is clear, no 20 second wait between pictures (unless it's programed) easy to use software, and awsome storage & retrieval within the camera itself. It can store up to 12 great quality pictures and cards for it are available pretty cheap.
So, if you want a compact camera, don't mind not having an optical zoom, (it's not good for taking really close up pics., like a close-up of a 1 inch bug, LOL) you might like this one.

I have a Kodak Easy Share CX6230, it's only 2 megapixels, but it does REALLY well. This is the 5th digital camera we've had in 3 years and it's the only one I can actually say I have liked from the start and will be keeping! It has the LCD screen, focus free zoom, and it follows it's name because it is the easiest camera I have ever used in my life.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 2100. It's a great camera for only about $200. It has ptical and digital zoom. Fun little camera! I've taken over 1800 pictures since August!

I love, love, love our Sony cyber shot with 3.2 mega pixels (and I love my IL's even more for giving it to us for Christmas ). It's so easy to use, takes beautful pictures and transfers them to the computer in seconds. I use it everyday, even to take vide (up to 11 minutes). I'm not sure what they retail for in the US.

We've always had Kodak digital cameras and loved them. Right now we have the Kodak Easy Share LS443 (4.0 Megapixel). I like it because it came with the docking station and has a rechargable battery (charges while on the dock). It takes short movies too. I think we paid around $350 for it at Sam's club last year sometime.

What's your price range? Buy.com and amazon.com are great places to look. Both offer free shipping for digital cameras and are great online stores.

I've heard that Kodak, Nikon, Hp and Sony all have good cameras. I definitely recommend looking at reviews on Epinions.com before buying.

You'll want a camera with Optical zoom. Digital zoom just doesn't cut it.

Post what your price range is and I'll see what kind of deals I can find for you, LOL.

I have the Sony Cyber-shot 5 megapixel and love it! It takes great pictures, downloads quickly and takes videos (although I have yet to figure that out). The camera came with a 32 MB memory stick but I upgraded b/c it wasn't nearly enough space. I'm horrible with electronics but this camera is a dream!

They had been running specials on cameras at Office Depot. Some had rebates and came with a printer. You might look into that.

Good luck!

epinions is a great site for comparing products!
http://www.epinions.com/cmd
You can type in any type of camera and it will tell you where you can buy it online and show you customer reviews if there are any!

We have an HP photosmart 715. It is a 3 megapixle. We really like it it is very user friendly!
Good luck!

We got a Casio Exilim EX-S3 and I LOVE it.

I can put it in my back pocket and be on the go... it takes awesome pictures, and has tons of options (We still haven't figured out all of them)

The clarity of the pictures is awesome, adn we are totally pleased with it.

Mom, SIL and SIL's sister all have the Exilim, and everyone loves theirs.

I have had a HP that sucked, so I don't recommend those.

I'd really like to stay under $300. Under $200 would be even better but I don't want to buy something really cheap and have it stink.
My theory on buying is that I don't mind paying a little more for products that are really worth it, hold up well and do a great job.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I'm going to hit epinions.com and see what I can find out. It's just hard since there are so many choices out there.

I love our Canon powershot A60. I had the powershot A20 before this for about two years with no problems (that's why I stayed with Cannon). I love the videos w/sound! And I got it on Amazon for $180 I think... We don't print over 5x7 (can do 8x10s) so 2.0 mp were fine by me. But if you like nice 8x10s or larger look for a camera with 3+ megapixels.

Like a mama above mentioned OPTICAL zoom is important!!!

Good luck!
