I don't know of any websites, but a few ideas....
tin cans, like soup cans, etc.... I used to keep one for company that came over that smoke.
Another idea is either spray polyurethane coating to protect a cool label (I like the Muir organic tomatoes label), or remove label completely, drill a few holes in the bottom and use the can as a small planter?
half gallon/gallon size juice or water jugs- wash in hot water, fill with water and either stick in the fridge, or if you have room, freeze to use for coolers. you can also use these to make suntea, just make sure the tea bags have strings!
single serving juice bottles (my fave are the lifewater/vitamin bottles cause they are nice thick plastic with screw on lids)...wash in hot water, refill with whatever. I freeze these and use for my cooler, sack lunches (in reusable bags of course! lol) or picnics.
These can also be great for making a little bit of suntea!
cardboard boxes- I have used cereal boxes turned inside out to send stuff, or to wrap gifts (with wrapping paper over them so they look less hokey).
For bigger boxes, like moving boxes, you can:
offer them on Freecycle for someone who might need moving boxes
or
let the kids play with them! Mine made a 2 person "car", with crayons, tape and I cut out wheels and taped them on.
Mostly, though, I do just flatten them and recycle them. Which is far better than just tossing them in a dumpster, right?
Oh, paper egg cartons make GREAT seedling starters. I sprouted our little garden with egg cartons, watered it well, then stuck the whole thing in a produce baggy, and stuck it in a sunny window.
Other things to recycle/reuse.... any plastic containers, like margarine tubs and the like, if you don;t reuse them, wash them in your dishwasher, make sure they are all dry, bag thrm up and take them to a preschool/daycare or elementary school. Head Start is a great school to take them to, they are on such a tight budget that any craft items donated are ususally appreciated!
Same with small paper bags.
Oh, and plastic bottles, like shampoo/body wash bottles? If your kids are at an age to want bath toys, let them play with those. If they are way little, make sure you chuck the lids. Mine like to put the lids on and squirt and pour. All of those kind of bottles also make great outside toys, especially for a wading pool!
