I used a long-sleeve shirt as an apron

It worked.

I turned it face towards me, sort of folded the neck down, and tied the arms around the back.

I was seeing if I'd like an apron, without having one first.

Oh! It was nice! I didn't get wet from washing dishes, I could dry my hands on the end, and it was a design I'd be happy to see every day. It's lavendar with a racing plaid. Black and white.

British TV is a veritable fantasia of aprons.

It's weird; days after that last apron thread, I discovered a new to me overseas mag (that would be a normal American mag to the rest of you, lol) at my local Borders, (AMAZING, btw, for crafters!!!), and they had a whole spread on aprons!! They apparently had some competition, and they featured the winners, or something like that. So, warning, this might fry your comp, but I've snapped some pics, lol!

Funny!

Ari, I have always thought that would work. I have to try it out now. Thanks!

I did it! It took getting kicked off the computer three times, but it finally downloaded! Can you imagine cooking in the pompon one? I can't. It looks like a paella date dress, with Carmen on in the background. Do people flirt with aprons? I remember reading about sheer ones, from the 1950's.

My blog name really should be fish in the middle. I even found a grocery store magazine specifying how to make stretchy shirred dresses. It had different methods, though.

Oh- I found a blog that is very nice, and it has an apron component.

Tie One On is a companion to Angry Chickens. She could fit right in, here. She cooks, she crafts, she is seriously focussed on gratitude and kindness and amazement. She keeps chickens, and eschews plastic. And, she's written a simple sewing book.

Also, in bloggish- if you type in PVC niddy noddy, which is a spinning thing- I don't spin yet- you'll come up with Yarn Harlot, who apparently also has a book, and she knits. and has children, and a full life in Canada.

I had always thought writers were solitary and socially awkward creatures, or else, solitary and bibulous when let out. I guess there is a gregarious sort of writer. I hope so. I don't think I can speak of what dread I have when dh tries to convince me to write- confined and lonely, inept at life, stuck to a worktable, spinning triumphalist, improbably fantasies about office life. Valerie Frankel writes of being shallow and happy. I am desperately curious about how good she is as a writer. I know of at least one writer's failings being her total contempt for just about everybody. One wants to leave the room, and succeeds- the book remains undersold.

yarn harlot has friends and material splendors. angry chickens runs apron design contests. she is pleased with her relatives, too, and friends. It's so nice to be around her.

who do you read? I know the quality is very uneven.

I like aprons but always forget to wear one. There is a little craft store that sells full aprons- handmade by someone who works there for $10 and they have seasonal fabrics. Such a cute idea.
