Eco Bags... very cool... BUT...
Very obviously I have nothing else to do today and my kids are sick, so I am sitting here, while they are in TVland on the computer. lol! I tis also raining outside, so when I thought to get up and garden, I couldn't with all the germs floating around our house and my new found sore throat. LOL... So here I am... window shopping on line.
The only trouble I have with this is their "eco brand system for one" is the same set up I use every week to outfit my family of 5! LOL! What are people buying that they need 6 huge bags along with 4 produce bags? I would like another canvas bag though. I tend to overfill the two that I have. And I have gotten to reusing the plastic produce bags, or not using any at all, but those look kinda cool.
Anyone want a eco produce bag coop? I would gladly run it to get more than 10 orders. (Then sets of 5 half sized produce bags is $7, or orders of 5 large produce bags is $9) I only need one set of 5 for my family, because most things I don't even use a bag. But I would love to get them cheaper.

Yes! That would be great! I have the regular EcoBag canvas tote bags for general shopping. And I just ordered some Chicco bags in a co-op. I'd love some produce bags for when we got to the produce market, though.

ok mamas, these look awesome!
I have a question though:
are these canvas bags any different than regular canvas bags?
Everytime I hit a thrift store I find an overabundance of canvas bags, in all sizes.
Some have cheesy logos (which can be covered up with a cloth patch! I covered an "american eagle" logo with a square of white canvas that I sewed a green recycling logo onto), and I have even found net-like bags, similar to the net bag on the link to eco-bags.
Considering the price of those, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy some that are already made, used, for like, $1 each?
I am honestly curious....
Don't mind me, I just love playing devil's advocate....

Interesting...I have collected my canvas shopping bags mostly for free. Actually I have one hemp bag I bought way back when hemp fabric first became commercially available, and it's lasted all that time - 15 years? Pretty cool. One bag I got at an autism conference, another at a craniosacral workshop, and another from a study we participated in for CF.
For the string bags, check out the Everlasting Bagstopper from knitty:
ETA: For produce I use nothing or the stupid plastic ones, but you could sew those w/lightweight unbleached cotton, just simple drawstring bags. Or even cute prints using quilting cottons...this has been on my list to sew for too long.
