Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
I love this book. I'm about a third of the way through it. Her site has recipes and lots of great pics of their farm (and her daughter who's a wee bit older than Katie): Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
For once I'm aware of a book early...this just came out on May 1. Here's the amazon link - however, I bought it from a local bookseller and hope everyone here does the same.
The book is about Kingsolver and her family spending a year eating mostly locally grown or raised foods. Much of it, they grew themselves. It's also got lots of Omnivore's-Dilemma-like information but in characteristic sharp, direct Kingsolver style (vs Pollan's very academic treatment of the same facts). It's wonderful.
Oh, and it has recipes!

Have not read it yet, but would like to. Haven't even read the reviews.
I actually got and read Plenty first, and I thought it was really good. AVM is good too, but in a different way. I had a hard time putting Plenty down, and I haven't touched AVM for a week now (I'm almost halfway through).
Of course, I had read all of the 100 mile diet articles, so I was really looking forward to Plenty.
