Reusing plastic #4

Readymade has a book out with a design for using plastic #4 newspaper sleeves. The author points out that it is durable, flexible, waterproof, and un- recyclable. The books design lays out 25 cut open New York Times blue delivery sleeves between wax paper, and then one irons them on low. This fuses them together. The book design shows how to make a messanger bag- very very cute.

I would have to save up sleeves for half a year- a clutter bunny, liable to attract more clutter.

I was thinking maybe bread bags? They are #4, right? The ones I buy are brown. And my creativity right now is really deserting me. What could I make with a sheet of waterproof plastic-maybe layer blue on the outside? And what about fumes? Fumes are a bit touchy.

What do you think? Gonna try it? It might make the ultimate grocery bag.

Target bags are #4 plastic. I get a red plastic bag with my paper every day. The two might work well together

I am a bit skeptical, though, at the ability to fuse all 25 bags in one shot. I wonder if you'd have to do it in layers?

Might be worth experimenting!
