Best probiotic?
We need to take a good probiotic. Ideally it would come in a powder form, but capsules or even caplets can be accomodated. I've done chewables before and have not been impressed, but - I just need something that's good, that works.
I have heard good things about Threelac. Anyone have positive or negative feedback on that one?
I have also read how good Primal Defense is. Is it really? Anyone use it? What's so different about it?
Thanks mamas...I'm so tired of researching stuff right now. I'm trying to get our systems boosted up before winter comes.

i bought primal defense and have used it a couple of times-- i took too much one day and had a stomachache, so I havent used it in abt a week :P as a warning it is a black powder that looks like dirt. Tastes a bit like dirt too if you dont mix it in anything

We use Primal Defense. It was recommended to me by several people that I really respect and know their natural health stuff. That said, I can't say I see what it is doing. But we just started using it.

We were taking primal defense but it is no longer considered gluten-free. So, I am searching. I have heard good things about Kirkman labs. I have not heard of Threelac.

Really? "Dirt" is not going to fly with my kids. This is the one I am looking at, it says it is caplets:
It does look like dirt. Since you've seen my other posts you know how picky my 6 yo is, I will share that I can mix the "dirt" into juice and he drinks it. We haven't graduated to swallowing capsules and use the power.

I'm going to buy Healthy Trinity (the dairy free version). I have a friend who swears by it; it's super high potency so you don't have to take as many capsules. The same company (Natren) offers the three strains in the HT caps as individual powders. HT is what her son takes based on recommendation from his DAN! doctor. I'm going to try the HT for myself first, and if I don't get sick I'll buy the powders for the boys.
I tried the Primal Defense (I think the ultra?) and couldn't stomach it. I think my body rejected the soil organisms and I was nauseated and bloated, with alternating constipation and diarrhea, plus heartburn and incessant burping. I gave it a week and finally decided to stop taking it.

Peace,
Kimberly...walking my path; loving, living and learning with an amazing man and two incredible boys.
The clerk at central market recommended Jarrow- dophilus. It's refrigerated. I think that might be an "after you open" thing.
I gave it to the kids after one had to take some really strong abx. It converted her rancid, slurry stools back into normal bm-s. The boys used it to cure their "tummy hurts"- they ask for it, on occasion. It changed their stools pretty rapidly, too, come to think of it, for the better.
Is Kambucha a probiotic? And is it viable for kids. DD is 4 and I think she could use a little digestive help.
Maybe she would take to a smoothy powder addative better. =)
Also does anyone know of any sugar free kids multi vit? Should I try for a powder there too?
I heard Jarrow was good. I used the baby-dophilus by Jarrow for my dd when she was a newborn (1st week of life she was admin abx in the NICU). It helped alot. Jarrow also makes a chewable for kiddos that tastes GREAT! It's called Yum-Yum dophilus. I, too am a bit confused about probiotics b/c the guy at WF told me that a good probiotic is refridgerated. Then a girlfriend of mine works MLM with Shaklee and told me that Candidex was an awesome probiotic but didn't have to refridgerated. My question is, can the bacteria really be *live* if it isn't refridgerated? I need a good pro, too b/c we are constantly battling candida and I know we gotta get the good stuff back in our guts!
