I get so inspired by all the information everyone has to share but I'm too impatient to wade through past posts. What threads/information have you found on Amity's that has changed your life?
Mango Mama, aka Jennifer Van Laanen-Smit. Everyday of both of my pregnancies that I was too tired or too pregnant to do anythign productive, I would read every word of her site.
Unfortunately, her site is no longer. I would love any of her books or any other info regarding her way of life back then.
I have been a member of amity's since 1998 and you wonderful women have really given me that extra oomph of encouragement I have needed throughout the years to continue my ways of natural/attachment parenting!
thank you!

Honestly, it has made me find myself in many ways. Amitys has been a place where I can come with "out there" info and still feel like a whole person with my feet on the ground. I am one who has a hard time not having done 10 pgs of research on whatever I am posting about. And being here got me to realise that most crunchies are just like me... doing the best they can with what they have to work with and trying to get better. It was nice to find out that not every one here had a degree in Enviromental Sciences, or had spent 25 hours on line looking up A or B, and that they were just as confused as me sometimes. It made it easy for me to ask questions.
My crunchiness has gone up 10 fold from when I was first on here in some aspects... and in others, I realise that there is no harm in adhearing to personal choice and living the life you have been given. I am a very moderate crunch (I think the test said "Lovin that whole grain crunch" lol...) a live and let live type. And I enjoy talking to all the people here that I know feel the same.

Ah, those were the days, weren't they?! Becky, maybe you and I know each other from over there and other places... I too came here from there.
At Amity's I have always loved the trades, the craftiness, the frugality, the humor and the support. I have lately noticed a shift to a more mainstream vibe here (sadly for me) and I don't spend much time here these days. But these things happen and it's OK.

Ya'll have no idea what you've done for me. 2 months ago I was throwing out more than 60 sposies a week, using almost a roll of PT a day, maybe 2 or 3 rolls of TP a week, and eating fast food several times a week, sometimes several times a day. I have tried a lot of natural concepts (I've been into herbs and vitamins for a while) in the past and I would go on health kicks from time to time, but I never had the feeling of support that I get here. My dh was shocked. I have a basket of rags to wipe with next to the diaper pail in the bathroom, I made as many wiping and cleaning rags as I could with old clothes that we don't wear anymore. My daughter is actually asking me for fruit and sometimes vegetables and I feel pride everytime I change my son's diaper. Now I'm looking at everything differently, I'm throwing out the old cleaners and the white sugar and looking into starting a garden. I know this stuff is old news for a lot of crunchy moms, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate every single post.
