Worried I am getting the flu

Almost all my family members have had the flu over the past month. They all said the 1st thing that happened was their throats were sore and within 24 hours they were so sick they could barely move.

Well, last night my throat started hurting and I am already feeling that drained feeling somewhat. I am getting really worried. Having my own sewing business I have deadlines with St patricks day orders. And I can't let my customers down. I upped my vitamin C last night and added echanacea (sp) and I added an extra pill of my fruit and vegetable supplement. Sorry at the moment my mind is drawing a blank at what it is called. I also started taking some airborne. Is there anything else you all can recommend? Anything you can recommend if I do get the flu to make it tolerable so I can keep working?

As much raw garlic as you can stand, however you can take it. Start slow to see how your stomach does with it. YOu can boil a bunch of fresh cloves into a tea and drink, then mash and swallow the garlic. Cooked garlic is easier on the stomach for many.

ETA-- And get some probiotics in case you do get the flu. Might not be a bad idea to take a couple now, even.

Bummer, mama. Being a WAHM I totally understand that stress and I promise you it is not worth it. Take care of YOU mama! There is not enough money in WAHM to make your self sicker worrying about your business!

Ok, oregano oil (origanum vulgare) is extremely potent and if you get a good Essential oil, just sniffing it can help. Garlic, yup! Good stuff for anything, I swear! lol

You may try chopping soem onion and soaking in honey for 4 hours to overnight and strain. Use the onion honey juice as like a cough syrup type thing but it kills germs and bacteria. The honey adds it soothing action to that onion action.

Marshmallow root tea,....goes down kinda slippery adn comes out the same way, but super soothing to the throat if it gets bad.

Salt water gargle if it is just a throat thing. Salt is an antibiotic too.

I have been aroudn the flu for 2 weeks and have felt exhausted but not sick.
I think eating healthy adn oregano oil sniffing and daily herb tea is probably what has kept me going so far. And prayers too...lol

Hope you're all better now. This is late, and I'm new here so just saw the thread. I've tried the oregano oil and some of the other remedies. All wonderful. This one I haven't tried for flu because we haven't had it, but just read about it from www.mercola.com He says to put a few drops of regular hydrogen peroxide (the 3% kind you can get at the store) in your ear, and leave it there for about 5-10 minutes, then do the other ear. Dr. Mercola's site says it's wonderful. I did try it with my son once when we were in town and he got sick. His fever broke within 15 minutes of using the peroxide in his ears. At home, I would have let the fever work and just stay home with him, but since we were away from home, I wanted to get him feeling better quick. Worked for us, but he had a stomach thing rather than the real flu.
