Anyone have/use a masonry stove?

We are looking into what kind of heat we will have in our new house (the one we hope to be building by spring!) and masonry stoves are looking pretty good. I'm interested in hearing, if you have one, how you find it to be in terms of efficiency and ease of use and amount of indoor air pollution.

We are looking at a Kachelofen with tile or soapstone, but haven't really pinned down the exact type of stove we'd like.
