Yummy Seed Shake Recipe
Here is the recipe for the seed shake I had yesterday. It is really delicious, and the kids loved it too! I added frozen bananas (I peeled them then put them in the freezer overnight.) I was making a double batch yesterday and started to hull the almonds, but it was taking way too long, so I skipped it and it came out fine. Our blender died while I was making this so our shake was very, very thick. I added some water, but we were still chewing every bite! LOL! It seemed more like a full breakfast to have to chew it. Anyway, here it is:
Seed Shake
2 TBSP raw almonds
2 TBSP sunflower seeds, hulled
2 TBSP sesame seeds, unhulled
2 TBSP flax seeds or 2 TBSP ground flaxmeal
1-2 cups water, at room temp
1 cup fresh or frozen berries
1-2 tsp unpasteurized honey
Soak almonds and sunflower seeds in 1 cup of water. In another bowl, soak sesame seeds in 1/2 cup water. In a separate bowl, soak the flax seeds in 1/4 cup of water. Let the seeds sit at room temp overnight or for 6-10 hours.
Drain the almonds, sunflower and sesame seeds (remove the hulls) and rinse them thoroughly. Placed the rinsed seeds, flax seeds with soak wter, berries and honey in a blender; liquefy. Add more water until you reach a desired consistency.
Serves 2.
Enjoy!
