Soil Testing??

how do I go about getting my soil tested? and is there some company that will give me the realities of the results... I mean I'm sure I'll need someone to translate it for me kwim...

Fenton was outside yesterday and got quite a bit of mud on him but it must have been from a hole or something cause the sprinkler wasn't on which is why he usually gets muddy and when I cleaned him up he had welts whereever there was mud dh has had a problem with welts/allergies since we got here and now I'm wondering if it's the soil. His boss (another person that recently moved to the area) has had problems with severe vertigo since moving here.

I'm a little freaked out

There are also engineering firms that test soil - constuction compaies use them to test for various reasons. If there is something chemical in the soil they can pick that up. Otherwise, he could have had a reaction to insect bites. My daughter gets huge welts when bitten by mosquitos.

Yup, your local state extension service should do it for a nominal fee. You can also look at scorecard.org to get a sense of local contaminants.

Tara that is one cool site! according to it my county isn't doing too bad... at least compared to the rest of the country (is that even a good place to compare it too! LOL)

Kathy- he does get welts from skeeters but these were welts *exactly* were the mud was, in the same shape and everything.. really weird
