Jello?

Anyone have a recipe for better jello, made with agar or something?

What?? You mean the thought of eating the goo that comes from boiling a huge vat or bones, cartiledge and connective tissue doesn't sound tasty to you???

Sorry, I am a big time gelatin-phobe... don't mind me.

I'd love to know if there is some sort of substitute, too.

Hain foods makes a very tasty all natural jello. I think it comes in orange and strawberry.

You can also buy "Emes" Kosher gelatin (in unflavored granules) and I bet they have a recipe on the back of the package to make a fruity jello.

I do have some agar here, but I haven't used it for anything....

Check it out!

You can make a vegetarian jello at home that tastes better than jello
brand ever did.

vegetarian jello

4 tablespoons agar agar flakes (kanten)
1 quart fruit juice

bring to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes.
Pour into a dish, add fruits if you like.
Chill

It is really quite wonderful and perfect for this summer weather.

Have you made this? I made it, and i don't know if I cooked it too long or what, but the consistency was a bit thick, in my opinion. I used the same proportion as you list...should I use less Agar? Maybe I cooked it too long. Does yours turn out solid??? Mine didn't seem to jiggle much!
