Talking Yummm!!! Chocolate pudding--dairy and refined sugar-free!And a pic of dd enjoying it

My friend finally gave me this recipe she's been promising me. I didn't expect much, but it is so good!

2 avocados (very ripe--mine were starting to turn brown inside).
1 cup maple syrup
1/4 c. cocoa, carob, or combination
Puree.

I had 3 avacados. I used cocoa, and I added extra cocoa, but forgot to add extra syrup, but it was still very good. DD and DS were loving it, when I was on the computer to post this, DD found DS's not quite finished bowl, and, well, you can see here....

It was very good. If your kids are skittish, you might make it and not tell them about the avocados!

I can't decide if this sounds wonderful or gross. I would not have thought of avocado and chocolate. I may have to try this. I can't tonight. My dern debit card is at home.

I thought it sounded gross too, but it is really quite good. I wouldn't guess that there's avocado in it--DS said, "Mommy, there aren't any avocados in it anymore" when he ate it. It is way, way better than, say, tofu chocolate pudding.

I couldn't figure out how to resize the picture I was trying to post. It came up gargantuan, so I had to delete it . Maybe I'll be able to figure it out later...

Sounds interesting!!! I wish avocados weren't so darn expensive. Maybe I will modify the recipe & make a very small batch with just one avocado to see if we like it?

Can you ripen an avocado in a paper bag like other fruits & veggies? All the avocados I find are as hard as baseballs!

Thanks for the recipe!!!!

Oh my, I'd be over the moon if ds would eat this. Or dd for that matter.

We recently made a much more decadent dairy free chocolate pudding. You take a box of instant Jello chocolate pudding mix and beat it into 1 1/2 cups or so of chocolate Almond Breeze or another very chocolatey, sweet DF milk (I used 365 brand organic soymilk with success). It tastes like raw cake mix. I was trying to get ds to take meds in it, but he wouldn't touch it.

Thanks so much for posting this recipe! I just made it and DD is loving it. (this is the girl that hates avacado!)

Yes... just like that... but they riped fast... think 'peaches'... lol... so you have to use them with in two days if you do this... putting them in a sunny window and they could be ready by dinner depending on how unripe they were...

Recipe sounds very interesting... I wonder if my kids would eat it... espically if they knew it was avo's. Alex pro would... but Cyan... that kid won't touch green things with a 10 ft poll usually... hum. Have to try it to tell huh? Avo season... here we come!

Love Val

Just found this... sounds good! Avocados are on sale at Albertson's right now... 10 for $10. Not the best deal around, but at least they're not $1.50 each

That pudding w/ rice milk and the pudding mix sounds good too!

Thanks!
