bouncing bunny Quick! Natural remedy for pink eye?

I think dd has pink eye. Her eye is all pink and bloodshot looking. And she said it's itchy. My mom had pink eye a few weeks ago, and I think she gave it to dd Is there any natural remedies for pink eye? Some kind of salve or something?

I learned recently that although contagious, viral pink eye doesnt need antibiotics(cause it is a virus! lol)

Viral pink eye is more common and doesnt present with all the goop, not sticky etc- I treated my son with allergy eye drops and benedryl

HTH

Thanks everyone! I definatly didn't want to get antibiotics. I got some Pink eye relief drops (homeopathic) which contains euphrasia, hepar sulphuris, and belladonna. Marion, thanks so much for the links, I bookmarked them.

I did read that breastmilk was excellent for this, but I don't know anyone that is nursing at the moment, lol!

Eye bright, Golden Seal and saline solution.

Allow the herbs to steep in the saline... do not boil. Cool, and put in a dropper. Keep extras in the fridge although putting it in eyes directly from the fridge hurts, so keep the one you are using on the counter or something. Works better than the crap I have gotten from Dr's.

That and a very very warm (as hot as the child can stand) washcloth on their eyes to hold there for a few minutes (until it starts to cool down is what I do) and then clean pillow cases each night until completely gone. The bacteria are VERY heat sensitive... I have used this alone and it has taken it away completely.

Breastmilk is great... and works well... but I don't have anymore... My dd gets pinkeye all the time from preschool. Schools are cesspools of disease.

Love Val
