What are the benefits of raw milk?

and how do I go about buying it? Is it really what's best for my family?

Thanks for any input!

I came here to talk about raw milk too. I think I want to start getting it also. Let me see if I can dig up the websites I saw. I looked into what pasteurization does to the milk. Its eerie!
Also, here in wisconsin its illegal for farmers to sell raw milk. There are ways around it. THere are about 5 farms in my state that sell raw milk.
You have to go there to get it. They don't advertise, its word of mouth.

www.realmilk.com

That has a list of legal sources for raw milk in (I think) every state.

We buy our milk and dairy products raw from a certifed dairy farm run by an Amish family. The milk is outstanding, really, really wonderful. I highly recommend it, but it's not exactly low fat.

Just as a heads up, you and your family may experience some gastro-intestional issues when you start drinking it depending on how much you drink. My weaned 15 month old got that yellow breastmilk poop for about a week after we started- it was odd. No cramps or anything, but with 2 kids in diapers, any changes are pretty obvious. Everyone adjusted fine, though, and now we're not going back. My husband calls supermarket milk "processed milk-food" now.

If you want to use raw milk you need to make sure that you're getting it from a clean source. This company ships all over the contiguous US and have impeccable records.

Organic Pastures

We've been getting our raw milk from Organic Pastures for about 6 months now, and we are extremely happy with the service. The milk is wonderful. We get it delivered once every 3 weeks. I am able to make all kinds of raw dairy things, including ice cream.

For more information about raw milk, I would also recommend a subscription to Wise Traditions. Invaluable information there!!!

We drink raw milk from a cow that lives here on our organic farm. Even if there is no 'legal' source for raw milk in your area, do try http://www.westonaprice.org, and there might be a chapter leader in your area that you can contact for sources. . Hope this helps. I personally believe that it is best for our family, and there is no way I would feed pasteurized...ewk.
