Kidney Stones

I am recovering from kidney stone hell and would love some advice. I was in the hospital 4 days and had surgery to place a stent because my kidney wasn't draining at all. I have been told that nettle is good to break up stones, but also read that marshmallow root is good too. I'm 6 mo pregnant and want to use whatever is best for me and the babe. I DON'T want to go thru this again.

Anyone btdt, or have any good ideas? I would love any thoughts at all.

Thanks,
Kaight

I don't have any advice on what you had asked. But I had kidney stones 3 times when I was preggo with my daughter Kathryn.. I found that I had to really watch my sodium intake and drink a ton of water during that pregnancy... I hope you feel better soon

I don't know how I missed this post! Here's my experience with kidney stones.
I passed my first 2 just over a year ago. One was 5-6mm and the other maybe 2mm. They both passed in less than 12 hours after an ER visit for pain meds. I aslo have another stone high in my left kidney that at last check had doubled in size in less than 6 mo. I had alot of pain early in my pregnancy, about 7-9 weeks. But the stone didn't move. I am currently taking a fresh herbal tincture and homeopathic Calc Phos. from my Naturopath, who is also a midwife. In addition, I am taking cranberry and nettle capsules. I drink as much water as I can tolerate too.
Do you know what type of stones you have? Depending what it is made up of, some things may work better than others for prevention and support. Also, make sure if you take any herbs or other suppliments, that they are safe while you are pregnant.
How is your pain regarding the stent? I have heard that they can be quite uncomfrtable.
What type of birth are you planning? If you are homebirthing, do you think this will effect your plans?
