? about cinnamon and pregnancy

If I am remebering correctly, a friend once told me that youshouldn't eat cinnamon during pregnancy, that it was not good for you.

Someone else just mentioned that they thought maybe it was a blood thinner.

Can anyone help me out here? I am not at all sure what the answer is.

I think this refers mainly to taking it medicinally - in those doses they indicate. I used Tom's Cinnamon toothpaste thru my pregnancies, and definitely used it in baking and such.

Generally speaking culinary use of herbs is allowed for pretty much everything.

Quite right I believe - at least for most things. Cinnamon included.

Here's what I found:
Due to the emmenagogue action of the oil it should be avoided in pregnancy.

High dosages can cause convulsions and should be avoided during pregnancy. Cinnamon bark oil should not be used in aromatherapy.

emmenagogue is basically describing something that encourages menstrual flow.

The oil is quite different than the bark of the tree which is what we use in cooking. And the oil is what needs to be avoided if I remember right.
