Emnbarressing ? What can I do about my bad breath--my nursing is up in arms about it
My dd is pretty sensitive to smells--I don't think anyone else (I hope!) is noticing this about me! Does anyone know of a deeper cure for this--like an herb I could eat? Its just not conevenient to jump up and go brush my teeth before every nursing...Thanks so much!
If you don't already do this, try brushing your tongue when you brush your teeth. They have those tongue scraper things (sounds so gross) that do the job even better. Good luck!

how about cloves as well? i know they hellp for toothache, and also *seem* to freshen breath a bit at the same time.

If you have not in a while, you could get your teeth professionally cleaned. That would ease up the things inbetween your teeth, and then it would make flossing, and brushing more effective. After that, I would follow others suggestions. But the one thing that effects how clean my mouth gets is the fact that I have not been to a dentist in about 7 years. So if I don't floss, brush and brush my touge daily, my breath is terrible. I am waiting to get my teeth cleaned professionally, so I can floss more effectively.

I would second almost everything here. Parsley - as a habit - helps a lot. Chlorophyll works too (maybe why the parsley works?)
Tounge scraping works fairly well. and you get visual satisfaction too. bleah!
DEFINITELY try acidophilous or other probiotics. Resettle your bacterial populations in the gut. eat more raw foods too.
And have the dentist check for throat stones. My friend actually named them for me. I'd seen my other friend find one once, and I found one - a big one, and I never knew they were something people have treated. They don't smell until they break, but when they do, WOW! Ugh, getting sick thinking about it.
Anyway, they're harmless and you can get them removed if need be from what I hear. I thankfully just noticed a little white chunk of something in my throat, and remembering my friend's find, pushed and prodded it and pulled out a small piece. Smashed it, it smelled gross which confirmed it as the same thing my friend found.
I obsessively looked at the same spot for a few days and noticed it again, I poked and prodded it with tweezers again, and couldn't get it out. Then I gagged and it came out and I couldn't beleive that big of a thing could hide in there, and only show that teeny little tip I was chasing with my tweezers. It was like an iceberg (they say icebergs only show the top 10 % - hence "just the tip of the iceberg") Anyway, it didn't stink, and I was thankful it didn't break while still in the folds of my throat, or I'd never get it out and would have bad breath.
Some sick part of my brain made me break it anyway once I got it out and i gagged again. Snigger snigger. LOL!
I'm gross, I know. I'm also sorry if I caught anyone off guard and got them sick. But hey, it may be something you're dealing with, and the info may prove to be useful. LOL.
Wow, haven't been on here in ages, and manage to come on with this... ew. Sorry.

The 'throat stone' things are usually due to drainage hitting your tonsils. Even if you don't realize you are having sinus/postnasal drainage, it is there. If you treat the drainage, it will help keep the 'stones' at bay. I had this problem for a long time until I got treatment for the drainage. I also am planning to have my tonsils removed as soon as James stops nursing.

OMG, there's an offical cause/name for these things?
DH just calls them "stinky throat nuggets" when he hacks them up
