eye ball Holy Cow! What would make underarm hair grow slower? Or I was testing this new DO...

I have done consumer surveys for years, and have tested some new products (I usually get a couple of Amazon GC's close to Christmas, so it pays for a couple of gifts),,so I didnt think much of testing a couple of deodorants....(I know,,,I shouldn't use the regular stuff, but I have yet to find a natural one that works for me.....)

So I had used this DO for a week, it came in a plain blue package with a while and black label that said " sample #1) and the website for me to give feedback...

so I was doing the survey yesterday and the questions at first were simple, asking about effectiveness, the scent (which thankfully was a really soft scent, I hate stinky DO)....then it started asking about how often I regularly shave my underarms (2 times a month maybe... if I think of it), if I noticed that the hair growing back grew slower and was softer....eek!

So what sort of toxic stuff would they put in DO to keep your underarm hair from growing in very fast, and keep it soft? That is the most bizarre thought! It never would have occurred to me that people would market (and buy) a product to keep their pit hair soft and slow growing!

A little bit freaked out today!....

hmmmm. . .not so much about deodorant, but I've noticed my pit hair has grown in much much slower and sparser as I've gotten older.

Looking at the ingredients on the Curel stuff above, I'm guessing that the sodium hydroxide is what makes the hair less appearant. It is a strongly basic stuff (another name for it is lye) that can dissolve protein fibers such as hair and wool.

I think sodium hydroxide is the main ingredient in Nair, and I know first hand that it is effective -- I used to work in a lab and spilled some on my arm. In addition to a chemical "burn" the hair just dissolved like magic...

Actually, I just read about this on another package of facial moisturizer....just curious as I hate to buy commercial stuff too - it said soy does the trick. Who knew?
