Conserving gas

Until I can get my aunt's Honda, I need ideas for helping me conserve gas. I am going to see if DH and I can commute together. We won't be taking the girls 2 places for the summer with school out. But, I am the primary person the girls need if something happens and I would be the one without a car. The town has little public transportation. To and from work is the only driving I do. So I am not sure I can cut down further. I have considering driving my truck in on Monday and then letting Dh pick me up and we commute together then I drive my truck home on Friday. That way, if I needed my truck, I would have it. DH can't get away from work if the girls need someone. He is sometimes out of town. Changing jobs is not an option. Too many benefits to leave.
