I'm giving up the boards and Blogs I go to for Lent. I love being a member of the UU church since I can do Lent again! I really need the time to focus on Annabelle and I.
I'm posting it here sunce the Super Crunch forum is my home here at AW.
I will still be getting email, so if you want to you can email me - elizabethmckeeman@NOSPAMyahoo.com . Take out the "NOSPAM" to make the email work.
I'll miss you all!

I'm doing the same thing Elizabeth! I'm a secular humanist, but figure Lent is as good a time as any to practice a little self-deprivation. I'm hoping to fill the hole left by AW with some real life experiences, thus turning the so-called deprivation into exploration.
I'm only giving up AW and Mothering, two places were I tend to surf and lurk and only post occasionally. I'll be sticking with my tribe and the new AmityWaldorfMamas list. I can't give up my conversations with women who are like me and help me not to feel so alone on this path.
My Dad is a minister and I was thinking outloud about giving up the boards. He said "Well, you can give something up or *take something on*." I said "Well, if I give up so much of my online time, I'll be taking on all that time to have a life more grounded in Minnesota." He grunted his approval : D
Originally posted by Laurie I'll miss you! I always liked the idea of Lent. I'm a UU, but I have never been in a UU church that 'does' lent. I have been in a UU church that did Passover and Christmas, though. I love UU's. Such decent, loving Heretics we are. lol
See you after Easter!
Laurie
See, the thing I like about being UU is that I can take what I like : D
I'm a memeber of this church - http://www.uua.org/clf/ . It's for people like me who are too far from a UU church to be able to attend. It's *really* great : D
I'm doing the "but I can go back to them on Sundays, right?" thing today. I did not know how locked into boards and blogs I am to feel like I am talking to people!

I looked into it about two years ago and just recently when you sparked it again.... Still none too close but I guess 45 minutes isn't too bad (Santa Cruz UU is the cloest). I was going to go today but *sigh* I dunno... My heart is just not there this weekend I feel really off. I need to do this though and the church sounds like just what I *need*.
I can understand about the drive. The closest UU church to me is an hour away. I just plain can't do it, and really don't want to. That's why I joined the CLF - it's like a home visiting church. I have a minister I can call any time I want to, I get sent services to do, and they have a free library. I *love* it and might even stay a member if I move near a brick and morter church.
