Huge reality check

I took my first quiz in my econ class today. I studied the chapter, the online lecture, and the PP lecture. It was open book. i thought I was going to ace it. This class is going to kick my behind for sure. 17/20 85% ...a little disheartened ATM.

I think the first quiz/exam/paper is always a bit tricky. Now you know what the quizzes look like and I think you'll do better on the next. Not that your grade is bad at all, but I know how it feels to put in that much effort and not get the grade you worked for.

I'm just afraid that because it IS the first quiz, that they can only get tougher from here, yk? I consider myself to be fairly intelligent, but there are parts of this that i am just NOT comprehending. I know that I am going to have to work my absolute hardest and still just squeak out an ok grade, yk? Totally gonna kill my GPA. I can't drop it for a myriad of reasons

I don't think it is going to get harder. Are you taking microeconomics? Or macro? Or just some random econ class your school offers? Econ can be a bit difficult to understand but unless you are in an upper level class it shouldn't really get any harder.

I hear you. I totally hear you. I did have one class last semester where I got better at understanding the instructor's thinking after the first few weeks, and my quiz grades went up.

Then again, there was Calculus, which just kicked my tush and threw me to the curb (and I had Calculus twice before--albeit, in the mid-80's). I'm only 6 days into Calculus II and it's better, even though the instructor is much worse. I think it's just the difference between a regular semester math class and the accelerated summer semester.

Don't be so hard on yourself Angie. The first test is always the toughest. Besides, you got a B! Way to go!
